Today I caught a mouse
\nI never thought I could feel so sad as when I saw the mouse.
\nIt was a he, or a she, who kept leaving little spots around the house.
\nSo, today I caught that mouse, and I feel so sad that I could cry,
\ncause now, I have to watch it die.<\/p>\n
Today I caught a mouse, but how can I ever forget its eyes,
\nas it struggled and fought to run from me with it\u2019s screaming cries.
\nI thought I was clever, and set a trap that glued it to a pad,
\nI never thought that I would to see it caught, then make me so sad.<\/p>\n
Today I caught a mouse, so now I must try it set free
\nfrom glue so strong, that it could capture even me.
\nI tried my best to free it\u2019s tail, and then a leg, and paw,
\nbut no matter what I did, it became stuck, even more.<\/p>\n
Today I caught a mouse, and now I\u2019m here, crying like a fool.
\nIts only a mouse\u2026 it only a mouse, so I should be cool,
\nbut why do I feel so bad about myself, at being such a louse;
\ncause I\u2019ve caught a mouse that had been living happily in my house.
\nIt\u2019s not dead as yet, but soon will be,
\ncause no matter what I do, I cannot set it free.
\nAnd now all I can do is sigh and cry,
\nas I have to watch this little mouse die.<\/p>\n
Today I killed a mouse, and I too want to die,
\nBut all I can do is sigh, then just cry.
\nNever again can I think of a mouse, without seeing those eyes of fear;
\nthat I won\u2019t stop and think, and wind up with a tear.<\/p>\n
God! I killed a mouse, and cannot understand how people kill,
\nthings that live, and not feel what I now feel, and always will.
\nWhat pain and heartbreak I have in me,
\nOh God ! Help me to be free.<\/p>\n
I watched a little mouse that only wanted food,
\ndie, because of me, so now all can I do is brood.
\nGod help me get good feelings back, and not be so sad,
\nit\u2019s only a little mouse I caught glued to a pad.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m a man who has lived a long life, and think that I\u2019m so smart,
\nbut all I can feel now is to live with a broken heart.
\nWhat\u2019s a little dirt and mess, against a life abound;
\nthat could still be happy, running, round and round.<\/p>\n
God, I can\u2019t seem to stop the pain that is in my heart
\njust show me how, and make me smart,
\nto never be so foolish again, as to hurt another living being.
\nYes, even a little mouse that eats, then leaves it’s little peeing.<\/p>\n
So what\u2019s a little cleaning after all that\u2019s said and done,
\nto save a life, and know it\u2019s having fun.
\nLeaving little messes after all, it\u2019s only a little mouse
\nwho has chosen to live with me, in my little house.
\nI want to tell the world about the mouse I caught today,
\nso that they too, can stop and think, and hope, and pray
\nfor the mouse I caught today.<\/p>\n
Never again, can I watch a thing alive, die because of me.
